Cécile DeWitt-Morette
The late University of Texas at Austin mathematical physicist Cécile DeWitt-Morette led vitally important research in her field and established L’École de Physique des Houches, a school that revitalized physics in post-World War II Europe. The school influenced dozens of individuals who went on to win Nobel Prizes or Fields Medals. For her research accomplishments, including in gravitational physics, DeWitt-Morette was made an officer in the French Legion of Honor in 2011, and she was a recipient of the prestigious Marcel Grossmann Award.
