Elise Harmon, ’33

After receiving a master’s in biology from UT Austin, Harmon worked during WWII at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, innovating in its Aircraft and Electrical Division to ensure American airplanes could fly as high as Germany’s planes. She later directed research and development for Aerovox, where she paved the way for the miniaturization of computers with her work in printed circuitry.
