Ada Yonath

 

Ada Yonath, an Israeli crystallographer best known for her work pioneering the structure of the ribosome, initiated the project to successfully map the ribosome using X-ray crystallography. Her work has been crucial to the production of antibiotics and led to her winning the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2009.  Text Credit: Beyond Curie.
